Emerging Investors

Who are going to be the next early-stage investors? Where will they find resources and gain experience?

The Ohio State Early Investor Network wants to help Ohio State alumni be that next class of investors. Alumni who do not qualify as accredited investors or are seeking more experience before joining the investor network may join the Emerging Investors program where you will assist will play a significant role in deal due diligence and can observe and engage in investment committee meetings and decision making. Additionally, continuing education opportunities will be provided to Emerging Investors on topics like venture financing, deal sourcing and business development, or portfolio management.

Business Development Involvement

Emerging Investors can contribute to identifying and sourcing potential investment opportunities. This involvement allows them to gain a comprehensive understanding of the startup ecosystem, market trends, and emerging technologies.

Access to a Diverse Investment Network

By joining the Emerging Investors program, Ohio State alumni gain access to the Ohio State Early Investor Network activities. This network consists of accredited investors actively seeking investment opportunities. Engaging with this network and observing the activities provides exposure to a wide range of industries, sectors, and investment prospects, enhancing their understanding of various business models and market dynamics.

Skill Development

The Emerging Investors program provides alumni with an opportunity to gain practical experience and knowledge in the field of venture and angel investing. They can participate in deal due diligence, which involves evaluating investment opportunities and conducting thorough assessments. This hands-on experience contributes to their skill development in areas such as investment analysis, financial modeling, market research, and valuation.

Continuing Education

The Emerging Investors program offers ongoing education and professional development opportunities. Participants can attend workshops, seminars, and training sessions focused on topics relevant to venture financing, deal sourcing, business development, and portfolio management. Mentorship and Networking

Emerging Investors are paired with an experienced investor from the network who serves as their mentor. This mentorship relationship allows young alumni to learn from someone with extensive investing experience, receive guidance on investment strategies, and gain insights into the industry.
